Client Stories

The following stories are real events experienced by our volunteers and staff.  The names have been changed as needed to protect identities.

A Hope and A Future for Both

A young lady came in and had a positive pregnancy test. She knew somehow deep in her heart that abortion was wrong, but had been warned by her parents that if she became pregnant she would be kicked out of her house. We talked about how harmful abortion was for her body, both physically and mentally, and considered some consequences that might occur. After I began to share that the Lord would be there with her every step of the way, she told me she wasn’t really sure she had ever made Him her Lord and Savior, but she wanted to do that today. When we finished praying, she told me she felt a peace inside and was so glad she had made a lifetime decision today. She left with a smile on her face and a new hope in her life.

Confusion + God = Peace

This young lady came in confused about what to do about her pregnancy because her boyfriend had abandoned her when she thought he would be so supportive. Even though she didn’t believe in abortion, she was considering it due to her situation because she didn’t think she could take care of a baby now. We talked about adoption, and she made an appointment for an ultrasound the following week. She was very open to the Lord and eagerly prayed and asked Him into her heart. She then cried and thanked me. What a blessing. She also changed her mind on abortion and said her boyfriend couldn’t influence her anymore. She also made an appointment for parenting lessons.

God Values Each and Every Life

This young Christian woman came here in hopes that her pregnancy test would be negative; and when told it was positive, she was devastated. She was a single mom trying to live right who had messed up again and was overcome by shame. She could not see herself with two children out of wedlock and didn’t want to tell the father of the baby because she didn’t think he wanted a ready-made family. She knew abortion was wrong, but thought it was the only way to get “rid” of this problem so no one would know.

As the volunteer shared with her, she began to see that God did not want her to destroy the life that was growing inside her and said she would come back for an ultrasound. She was so distraught we felt we might not see her again.

We prayed for her, and she came in the very next day and said she had spoken to her boyfriend, and he was very excited about the pregnancy. She said she wanted to bring her boyfriend with her for the ultrasound. When they came in, she had completely changed her mind, and they were both amazed at the development of the baby and laughed with joy at the sound of the tiny heartbeat. The boyfriend asked a lot of good questions, was very concerned for her and their baby, and said he was going to be there for them. Not only did this young woman see how valuable her unborn baby was, but she had begun to see how valuable she is to God as well.
